It is never easy to always post great original content on Instagram, so you may consider reposting someone else's post on your Instagram while giving credit to the original Instagramer. In this post, I will show you 3 ways to repost a video on Instagram. You can also use similar methods to republish images on Instagram.
Whether you prefer iOS or Android, you will find an easy solution to do it. You can even do it on any other platform with a web browser. The best part, you are not required to download any third-party apps.
If you use Instagram from a desktop, you can use an online Instagram video downloader tool to download high-resolution copies of Instagram videos for republishing from your own account. Therefore, you don’t need to download any apps to republish an Instagram video using this process. Of course, you can also use this web app on your Android or iOS device. Here is how to do it:
Step 1. Open Instagram and find the video that you want to to republish on your Instagram Feed or Story.
Login to your Instagram account on your web browser and find the post you want to repost. Tap the "..." icon in the upper right corner of the post and click "Copy Link". It is the same button if you use the Instagram for Windows app.
Step 2. Paste the post sharing URL into Instagram Video Downloader..
Navigate to this web tool from your web browser. Paste the URL into the text box that appears on the web page and tap "Download Video".
Step 3. Download the video post.
Instantly, the video content will be ready to download with details of video. Press the download icon, the video will be downloaded on your device. Sometimes, you will be redirect to a new page where you can watch the video content. From there, you can right click and select “save video as...” to save the video on your storage.
Step 4. Open Instagram and post the video.
Go back to your Instagram web page or app. Locate the video you just downloaded and post it to Instagram. If you use mobile device, the video will be saved to your phone's native camera roll, so edit it like you would any other Instagram post. There is a small trick to post video to Instagram from a PC.
Instagram has several third-party applications that help you improve your experience, and among them there are those that allow you to share the video or image posts of others while respecting the original source.
If you need to repost Instagram video constantly, it is recommended to use a dedicated free app from Google Play Store. For that, I recommend iRepost. It allows you to easily repost any Instagram photos to your feed or save them to your Android device. You can refer to the steps below to see how it works.
Step 1. Launch iRepost app, tap on the three dots button on the top right. It will redirect you to the Instagram app.
Step 2. Within the Instagram app, find the post with the video that you want to download and copy the post link.
Step 3. After that, you will be automatically brought back to iRepost app and then you will have three options, Repost, Copy Hashtags, and Copy Text. Just click on Repost to repost the video to your Instagram feed.
If you just want to save the Instagram video on your phone without reposting, then you can just open your File Manager app and navigate to Phone Storage/iRepost to find the downloaded Instagram video. This goes the same with downloading Instagram images.
What’s more, it allows you to copy and paste Instagram Hashtags. You can extract hashtags from your competitors' popular posts and use them in your post.

For iOS users, you can also download a free app like Repost for Instagram to republish a video to Instagram feed or story, but that is really not necessary. Since 2018, Apple has released the Shortcuts app that allows you to create personal shortcuts with multiple steps to run with a tap or by asking Siri.
You can use Shortcuts app to do a lot of automation tasks including reposting Instagram videos. If you are using iOS 13, this app was already pre-installed on your iPhone or iPad, so you just need to use it.
Step 1. Make sure you have the Shortcuts app installed and then open this link in Safari to get the Instagram Repost shortcut. iOS 12 users need to download it from AppStore.
Step 2. Go to Instagram and find the video that you want to repost. Tap on the “...” icon and select “Copy Link”.
Step 3. Open Shortcuts app and tap to run the Instagram Repost shortcut. As you run, you will get a prompt with all the info about this video post including the owner's name and caption. You just tap the Media option to download and repost the video.
Step 3. You will be brought to the Instagram app. As you can see from the screenshot above, the video is already selected. You can edit it and post it to your Story or Feed.
This shortcut will automatically save the Instagram video to your iPhone Camera Roll and then repost it to Instagram. If you don’t want to save the video, you can add an action at the end to delete the video automatically after posting.
